The reason for the failure of the health systems, failure to reduce the incidence of diabetes, and the impact of diabetes on society in obvious, when you read these submissions. Particularly the submissions from long established organisations in the area. The Australian Diabetes Association for instance is captured by it's commercial funders. While the Dietitians Australia is captured by both faulty Australian Dietary Guidelines, and by funding sources. Too many long established organisations are pleading for money for staff and research, but they seem to offer little prospect of change in the rate of new diabetes cases. Some of the best contributions come from patients.

Endocrinology? - a Solution or Part of the Problem

As a professional group endocrinologists are the most highly trained professional specialists in the care of diabetes patients. But they are very focused on the latest "magic medication" and seem to assume that for any patient referred to them, every lifestyle and dietary tactic has already failed. For instance T2D remission has never been raised as a possibility. Low Carb diets not recommended. Access to CGM's was not offered. There are several reports in the submissions, that think the visit to the endocrinologist was mostly a waste of time. Anyway, make up your own mind.

The Best of Organisations Working Inside the Standard Protocol

Most of the established organisations, hospitals, research groups, diabetes health specialists offer very little. They always talk about the wonderful work they are doing. They explain how difficult and complex the work is, and the need for more money and more trained staff and they promise to continue with business as usual. These few are better than that.
